Privacy
Pegbar collects what it needs to find your scene, and nothing for advertising. Here’s what that is, where it’s kept, and how to have it deleted.
Last updated 31 October 2026
- The free check never uploads your photo.
- For Find my scene, we keep your email address, your order and your cel photos.
- Location and other hidden data are taken out of your photos before they leave your device.
- Stripe takes payments. We never see your card number.
- No tracking or advertising cookies, and we don’t sell your information.
- Email us any time for a copy of your data, or to have it deleted.
Who looks after your data
Pegbar is run by OPERATOR-NAME, who is responsible for the information described here. Questions about it go to hello@getpegbar.com.
The free check
The free check runs entirely in your browser. Your photo isn’t uploaded, and we don’t keep anything about it. If you open a draft report from the check, your browser holds the draft until you close the tab.
What we collect for Find my scene
- Your account. Your email address, through Firebase Authentication, Google’s sign-in service. If you sign in with Google, Google also shares your name and profile picture with Firebase. Pegbar uses only your email address.
- Your order. The film or show, who’s on the cel, your shop or gallery name and listing link if you give them, your notes, whether you want your report in the gallery, the version of the terms you agreed to, and the order’s dates and progress.
- Your photos. The front of the cel, and the back if you send it.
- Payment. Stripe takes the payment. Stripe tells us that you’ve paid, along with the details you gave it at checkout, such as your name and email address. We never see or store your card number.
- Your emails to us. Whatever you choose to tell us.
Like any website, the servers that deliver Pegbar’s pages see your IP address and the kind of browser you use. So do Google Fonts, which supplies the site’s typefaces, and Google’s servers that supply the sign-in and order pages’ code.
What we use it for
We use your information to search for your scene, tell you the result, issue your report, take payment, answer your emails and keep the site secure. We also keep the records the law requires, such as payment records for tax.
We don’t sell your information, share it for advertising, or use your photos for anything you haven’t agreed to.
Where it’s kept
Your account, orders and photos are kept with Google Firebase: Firebase Authentication for signing in, Cloud Firestore for orders and Cloud Storage for photos. Payments are handled by Stripe. Both companies may store and process data in the United States and other countries where they operate.
Hidden data in your photos
Photos from phones and cameras often carry hidden data, such as where and when they were taken and which camera took them. Before your photos leave your device, the order page copies each one as a new image. The copy keeps the picture but none of that hidden data, and only the copy is uploaded. Your original stays on your device.
Anything you can see in the picture is still there, so crop out what you’d rather not share, such as a label with your name or address.
What’s public
Until a report is issued, only you and Pegbar can see your order and photos.
Once a report is issued, anyone with its number can open it. It shows your cel photos, the matching film frames, the film and the character, and your shop or gallery name if you gave one. It never shows your email address.
Your report is listed in Pegbar’s public gallery only if you chose that. If you didn’t, it isn’t listed anywhere on Pegbar, but anyone with its number or link can still open it, and pass it on.
How long we keep it
- Scene not found: we delete your photos 30 days after we tell you.
- Report issued: we keep the photos in your report for as long as the report is up.
- Your account and the rest of your data: kept until you ask us to delete them.
- Payment records: kept for as long as tax and accounting law requires, even after you delete your account. Stripe keeps its own records under its privacy policy.
Cookies and tracking
Pegbar doesn’t use tracking, analytics or advertising cookies, and no ad networks run on the site.
Signing in keeps your session in your browser’s storage, so you stay signed in between visits. If you sign in with an email link, your browser also remembers your address until you open the link. Both are there only for what you asked for, and signing out ends your session.
Stripe’s payment page sets its own cookies, which Stripe uses to keep payments secure.
Getting a copy, or deleting it
Email hello@getpegbar.com from the address you sign in with, so we know it’s you, and tell us what you’d like:
- a copy of the information we hold about you;
- a correction to anything that’s wrong;
- your account and data deleted.
We reply within 30 days. Deleting your account deletes your orders and photos, and takes down any reports that show them. Payment records we have to keep for tax are the one exception.
If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your information, tell us first and we’ll try to put it right. You may also have the right to complain to the data protection authority where you live.
Children
Pegbar is for adults who buy, sell and collect animation art. It isn’t intended for children, and we don’t knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you think a child has sent us information, email us and we’ll delete it.
Changes to this notice
If we change how we handle your information, we update this page and the date at the top. If a change is significant, we email people with accounts before it takes effect.
