Terms of service
These terms cover the free check, Find my scene and the reports Pegbar issues. We’ve kept them short and plain, so you know exactly what a report says and what it doesn’t.
Last updated 4 November 2026
- The free check runs in your browser. It costs nothing, and your photo isn’t uploaded.
- Find my scene costs $19, and only if we find the scene. The report is included.
- A report shows that the drawing on your cel matches a frame of the film. It isn’t an authentication, an appraisal or a guarantee.
- Your photos stay yours. You let us show them in your report, and in the public gallery only if you say so.
- If we withdraw a report because we got it wrong, you get your money back.
This is a summary. The full terms below are the ones that apply.
Who we are
Pegbar is run by OPERATOR-NAME (“Pegbar”, “we” or “us”). These terms are an agreement between us and you, the person using the site. By using Pegbar or sending us an order, you agree to them. If you use Pegbar for a shop or gallery, you agree to them for that business too, and you confirm you’re allowed to.
How we handle your information is set out in our privacy notice.
What Pegbar does
The free check compares a photo of your cel with a small library of film frames. It runs in your browser, so your photo isn’t uploaded and nothing is kept. Its result is a quick guide. It has no report number and isn’t a report.
Find my scene is the full search. You sign in, send us photos of your cel and what you know about it, and we search the film, frame by frame, for the frame your cel was painted for. If we find it, we issue a numbered report that shows the evidence.
What it costs
- Sending a cel is free.
- If we find the scene, it costs $19 (US dollars), and that includes the report.
- If we don’t find it, you pay nothing.
When we find the scene, we show you a preview and a link to pay. Payment goes through Stripe, and your report is issued once it’s paid. If you decide not to pay, we don’t issue the report. Stripe’s own terms apply to the payment itself.
How long it takes
We usually finish a search within 5 business days of receiving your order, and we email you either way. That’s our usual time, not a promise: a long film, footage that’s hard to find or a busy week can take longer, and we’ll tell you if it will. Once you’ve paid, your report is usually ready within a day.
What a report says, and what it doesn’t
A report shows that the drawing on your cel matches a frame of the film, and it shows the evidence: the frame, the shot it sits in, and how the two line up. You can check the match with your own eyes.
A report is not an authentication, an appraisal or a guarantee. A matching drawing is evidence about the drawing, not about the sheet of acetate. A report doesn’t say that your cel is a production cel, that it went under the camera, that it’s an original rather than a copy, or what it’s worth. It doesn’t judge the paint, the condition, the background, or any seal or signature. A report never calls a cel “authentic” or “fake”.
Matching is careful work, but it can be wrong. Look at the evidence yourself, and don’t rely on a report alone when you buy, sell or insure a cel.
Your photos
You keep the rights to the photos and details you send us. To run the search and publish your report, you give Pegbar permission (a licence) to store and copy them, to resize and crop them, and to show them:
- in your report, its listing picture and its embed;
- in Pegbar’s public gallery, but only if you chose to list your report there;
- to you, in your account.
The licence is free of charge, isn’t exclusive, and covers anywhere your report, its listing picture or its embed is seen. It lasts while your report is up, and ends when your report is taken down.
If you give us your shop or gallery’s name, the report shows it as the dealer. Leave it out and the report won’t name a dealer.
By sending photos, you confirm that you took them, or that whoever owns them has let you use them this way, and that showing them in a report won’t break anyone else’s rights. A dealer’s listing photo usually belongs to that dealer. If someone makes a claim against Pegbar because photos you sent weren’t yours to use, you agree to cover the costs that claim causes us.
Who can see a report
Every issued report has a number, such as PB-XXXX-XXXX. Anyone with the number can open the report. That’s what lets a buyer check a cel for themselves. Once you share a number, you can’t control who else sees it.
Your report appears in Pegbar’s public gallery only if you chose that when you ordered. You can change your mind at any time by emailing hello@getpegbar.com. A report outside the gallery isn’t listed on Pegbar’s pages, but anyone you give its number or link to can still open it, and pass it on.
Using your report
Once your report is issued, you can share its number, link, listing picture and embed wherever you sell or show the cel. Please show them as they are: don’t edit them, crop out what a report says it can’t prove, or use a report’s number for a different cel.
Corrections, withdrawals and appeals
If we find a mistake in a report, such as the wrong film, the wrong shot or the wrong frame, we correct it or withdraw it. We may also withdraw a report if its photos weren’t the sender’s to use, if a rights holder asks us to remove what it shows, or if these terms were broken. Anyone who thinks a report is wrong can tell us, not only the person who ordered it.
A withdrawn report’s number still opens, and the page says the report has been withdrawn, so a buyer who looks it up isn’t misled. You can also ask us to take your own report down at any time.
If you disagree with a result, a correction or a withdrawal, email hello@getpegbar.com with your order or report number and tell us why. We’ll look at it again, along with any new evidence you send, and write back with what we decided and why.
Refunds
If we withdraw a report because we got it wrong, we refund the full $19 to the way you paid. You don’t need to ask.
For anything else, such as a payment made by mistake or a report you’re unhappy with, email hello@getpegbar.com with your order or report number and what happened. We look at every request fairly and reply with what we can do.
Nothing here takes away any right to a refund that the law where you live gives you.
Using Pegbar fairly
Please don’t:
- send photos you don’t have the right to use;
- describe a report as an authentication, a certificate of authenticity or an appraisal, or say it proves more than it does;
- change a report, or use its number, listing picture or embed for a different cel;
- pretend to be another dealer or gallery, or use someone else’s account;
- copy the film frames, the frame library or the reports in bulk, or use them for anything other than identifying artwork;
- scrape the site, overload it, or try to get around its security;
- use Pegbar to break the law or to mislead a buyer.
If someone does, we may refuse their orders, close their account or withdraw their reports.
Your account
You sign in with your Google account or with a link we email you, so there’s no Pegbar password. Keep your email account secure, because anyone who can read it can sign in as you. You need to be 18 or over to send an order. You can close your account at any time by emailing us, and the privacy notice explains what happens to your data when you do.
Film frames and the studios
Frames from films and shows are © their studios, including The Walt Disney Company and Warner Bros. Pegbar shows them only to identify animation art. Film titles and character names belong to their owners, and are used only to say which film or character a cel comes from.
Pegbar is independent. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by or sponsored by any film or television studio, or by any gallery whose listings appear here.
Pegbar’s own words, design and software, and the layout of its reports, belong to OPERATOR-NAME.
Copyright complaints
If something on Pegbar uses your work without permission, the takedown page explains how to ask for it to come down. Usually an email is all it takes.
Formal notices under the US Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA) go to our designated agent:
DMCA-AGENT
A DMCA notice needs:
- your physical or electronic signature;
- the work you say is being infringed;
- the material on Pegbar you want removed, with enough detail for us to find it, such as a report number or a page address;
- your name, postal address, phone number and email;
- a statement that you believe in good faith that the use isn’t authorised by the owner, its agent or the law;
- a statement that the notice is accurate and, under penalty of perjury, that you own the right or are allowed to act for its owner.
If we remove something you sent and you think that was a mistake, you can send a counter-notice to the same agent. We close the accounts of people who repeatedly send material that infringes other people’s rights.
Limits of our liability
We build Pegbar carefully and check every report, but the site and its reports are provided as they are, without promises beyond the ones in these terms. In particular, we don’t promise that a report is free of mistakes, or that the site will always be available.
As far as the law allows:
- we aren’t responsible for decisions that you, a buyer or anyone else makes because of a report, including the price a cel is bought, sold or insured for;
- we aren’t responsible for indirect losses, such as lost sales, lost profits or harm to a reputation;
- our total responsibility for anything to do with an order is limited to what you paid us for it.
Nothing in these terms limits a liability that the law doesn’t allow to be limited, such as liability for fraud, or takes away rights you have as a consumer.
Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as Pegbar changes. When we do, we change the date at the top of this page. If a change matters to people with accounts, we email them before it takes effect. An order is covered by the terms in place on the day you sent it.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of GOVERNING-LAW, and any dispute about them goes to the courts there. If you’re a consumer and the law where you live lets you bring a claim in your own courts, or gives you protections these terms can’t remove, you keep them. If a court decides that part of these terms can’t be enforced, the rest still applies.
